After spending decades side by side at weddings, with over 35 years of combined experience in the wedding industry, a tight-knit group of wedding professionals (and best friends!) had a lightbulb moment. What if planning a wedding didn’t have to be stressful? What if couples could have a meaningful, relaxed, and beautifully curated elopement — and what if we got to work together every day to make that happen?
That’s how Welope came to life, born from a love of weddings, a passion for helping couples, and the not-so-secret desire to spend even more time together. We believe that elopements and small weddings should be just as special and memorable as any grand celebration — and way less complicated.
ELISA
Director of Ceremonies
I am a mother of four gorgeous children, Christian, Daniel, Thomas and Amelia. I am a friendly, fun, open-minded professional and I love celebrations!
I had the privilege of marrying my husband Erik twice, with an official ceremony in The Netherlands and later a renewal ceremony here in Melbourne. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the preparation, but most enjoyable was the process of writing our wedding ceremony – this was the experience that inspired me to become a celebrant.
Recalling our first kiss and all the special times we’ve shared through our journey was truly amazing. With the guidance of our supportive marriage celebrant, we were then able to create a unique ceremony with vows that were just ours.
Since becoming a celebrant, I have been privileged to be a part of many joyous occasions

ERIK
I started in the wedding industry in 2012 on the absolute belief that film can truly capture the heart and soul of the people in front of the camera. The story telling is by far the most important part of the art and it is what I enjoy most about this job.
Photography and video production is my full time occupation but I have many other passions. I hold a PhD in Biomedical Science and still lead a research program at Monash University into the prevention of heart attack and stroke.
If I’m not filming weddings or I’m not in the lab, I love to spend time with my 4 children, ride my motorbike or you’ll find me piloting a plane over the Yarra Valley.

Abbey
Senior Wedding Planner
I am fully qualified wedding and events planner and stylist. I wear many hats, having completed a diploma in Marketing and Social Media Management. I also work full time as a Sales & Events Manager at WBC Entertainment
After working as an onsite wedding planner for 13 years at different wedding venues across Melbourne, I really know my stuff when it comes to planning and organising wonderful weddings
I love all things weddings and events, and will happily talk your ears off about different aspects of the industry.
I loves spending time with my Husband Luke and 1 year old Lola. I am a crazy Star Wars fan and even have the tattoos to prove it.
